…what we achieved with a challenging budget is nothing short of extraordinary; we are genuinely impressed.

Philip Reynolds : MD – C & D Foods

Marlinstown Business Park, Mullingar was selected as the new administrative Headquarters for C & D Foods, a pet food manufacturer supplying across Europe.

C & D Foods was originally founded almost 50 years ago in Edgeworthstown, Co. Longford by the ex. Taoiseach Albert Reynolds (1992-1994.)

With a restricted fit-out period and continuous changes, much decision making was required whilst the build process was in full swing.

A focused and dedicated approach by both Designer and Contractor ensured that crucial elements were signed off and developed as required to suit the build program – very much a ‘live’ design and build approach to a contract which without a lot of mutual understanding and respect, this award-winning fit-out would never have been achieved.

Material availability and restricted lead-times lead to various interesting developments during the project where finishes had to be supplemented out to remain on program.

Arcology were awarded Best Commercial fit-out in the Fit-out Awards 2014.

Design Solution

The premises sought consisted of 2 very defined ‘wings’ adjoined by a central atrium. Arcology set out to ‘visually join’ the 2 wings and continue circulation and ‘flow’ by means of creating a ‘ribbon’ manifesting itself in wall locations and ceiling and floor details.

The ribbon bulkhead allowed for concealed light fittings allowing for the temperature of the light to be pre-set to change on accordance with the time of the day, increased temperature/ whiter in the morning to promote productivity and decreased temperature, warmer light in the afternoon and evening promoting calm.

Innovative detailing had to be worked around joinery, doors etc. including a challenging fire strategy.

Reconstituted Ebony Makassar  veneers and simple paint and glass form the basis of the scheme built around neutral tones but with carefully sought, cost effective yet high performing materials.
