Brief
J.A Shaw Solicitors, a well-established Mullingar-based practice had outgrown their original premises and sought to provide an office facility to both their staff and clients that reflected their ethos and values.
The governance of the of 10,000ft2 fit out was ‘longevity’, corporate yet contemporary with finishes and fittings reflecting this.
Design Solution
The premises sought consisted of 2 very defined ‘wings’ adjoined by a central atrium. Arcology set out to ‘visually join’ the 2 wings and continue circulation and ‘flow’ by means of creating a ‘ribbon’ manifesting itself in wall locations and ceiling and floor details.
The ribbon bulkhead allowed for concealed light fittings allowing for the temperature of the light to be pre-set to change on accordance with the time of the day, increased temperature/ whiter in the morning to promote productivity and decreased temperature, warmer light in the afternoon and evening promoting calm.
Innovative detailing had to be worked around joinery, doors etc. including a challenging fire strategy.
Reconstituted Ebony Makassar veneers and simple paint and glass form the basis of the scheme built around neutral tones but with carefully sought, cost effective yet high performing materials.
